The Queen has spent time with soldiers from 1st Battalion Royal Welsh during a visit to the Roodee Racecourse in Chester.

The monarch has visited Cheshire and first of all met students who work with horses at Reaseheath College in Nantwich before travelling to the Roodee in Chester.

She has watched the Drumhead Service of Thanksgiving to mark the return from operations in Afghanistan of the 1st

The Queen was going to be joined by Prince Philip on the trip to Cheshire but he was forced to pull out after having minor surgery on his hand.

The Queen was wearing just pink and her outfit was designed by Stuart Parvin and her hat was designed Phillip Somerville.
