Teenager lucky escape on train line

Police say a teenagers had a lucky escape after walking across an train line in Cheshire.

CCTV at Little Sutton caught the boy crossing the lines at the station last Sunday afternoon.

Inspector Gary Jones, BTP Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the area, says:

"It's hard to believe that anyone could behave in such a reckless and irresponsible way."

"Trains travel at high speed and, unlike cars, cannot swerve to avoid people in their path."

"In most cases those who trespass do so in an attempt to save time, but there is never a valid reason for trespassing on the line and anyone who does is putting their safety at risk."

"All too often we are called to incidents of people being struck by trains and neither I nor any of my officers want to have to tell anyone that their son or daughter won’t be coming home again."

If you see anyone trespassing on the line please report the incident to British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.
