Complaints Up At Yorkshire Hospitals
Complaints about hospitals in Yorkshire have gone up by more than 100 in just a year.
The latest figures from 2014 to 2015 show 807 were made across the region.
The most were about Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, which also had the biggest increase on the year before.
Bad communications, problems with diagnosis and poor treatment were amoung the top complaints.
Sheffield NHS Trust has released this statement:
As the largest NHS Trust in the region we treat over 2 million patients each year and the vast majority of patients praise our staff for the care they provide.
However we are never complacent and actively encourage feedback and complaints so that we can continue to improve, this is reflected in the increased number of complaints.
Last year the number of complaints sent to the Ombudsman increased slightly but the percentage of those complaints upheld (13%) was much lower than the national rate of 44% for Acute Trusts across the country.
