More Arrests After Doncaster Raids

Nine men and two women have been arrested on a second day of police raids to tackle crimes like burglary, robbery theft and car crime in Doncaster.

Six men and one woman who were arrested on Tuesday now charged with a variety of offences.

Of the 13 arrests on Tuesday Russell McIntyre, 35, of Armitage Road, has been charged with six burglaries and been remanded into custody.

Neil Burns, 32, and Robin Asquith, 39, both of Somerset Road, have been charged with commercial burglary and are due in Court next month.

Stephen Palmer, 39, of Alexandra Road, has been charged with handling stolen goods as has Claire Bee, 40, of Armitage Road.

Lee Trotter, 37, of Ripon Avenue, has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and four counts of possession of class A drugs. He will appear at Doncaster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 10 March.

Mark Gooch, 30, of St Wilfreds Court, has been charged with three counts of concern in the supply of drugs and will appear at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 3 March.

Five men are still in police custody and one man has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The raids and arrests yesterday were carried out on Balby Road, Armitage Road and Alexandra Road in Balby, Ripon Avenue in Intake, Goodison Boulevard in Cantley, Somerset Road in Hyde Park and College Road and Allerton Street just outside the town centre.

The raids today have again been carried out across the town with all 11 suspects currently in police custody to be questioned by officers.

DCI Craig Robinson leading the investigation, entitled Operation Deal, said:

"We have made 24 arrests in just over 24 hours as part of the investigation into crimes including burglary, theft from motor vehicle and robbery.

The message we want to send out is clear; if you are involved in any form of criminality that affects the honest and hard-working people of Doncaster, we will find you and we will bring you to justice."
