Police Name Boy Who Died in Rotherham Canal
Police have formally identified an 11 year-old-boy who died in Rotherham.
Subhaan Ali was seen going into the water at around 7pm on Thursday 21 July close to Stonerow Way near Parkgate Retail. He disappeared soon after.
Specialist resources attended the scene, including South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the Ambulance Service. Subhaan’s body was recovered from the water at around 11pm.
Investigating officer Temporary Detective Inspector Graham Stead said: "Our deepest sympathies go to Subhaan’s family who have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
"A thorough and comprehensive investigation is continuing, but I can confirm that there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.
"We will continue to provide support to the family and provide the necessary information to the coroner."
