Two people, including a four-year-old girl, have been left with life-threatening injuries after a serious crash near Barnsley.
Three cars were involved in Barnsley Road in Hoylandswaine yesterday at 5:45pm.
It was reported that a silver Vauxhall Corsa, travelling toward Silkstone, was involved in a collision with a blue Peugeot 107 travelling in the opposite direction towards Penistone. The Peugeot was then in collision with a black Ford Mondeo, travelling in the same direction close to the junction with Kine Moor Lane.
A four-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries and is in hospital in a critical condition. A three-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. The driver, a 36-year-old man, and a passenger, a 21-year-old man, both from Penistone, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain in a serious but stable condition.
A passenger in the Peugeot, a 49-year-old man from Barnsley, also suffered life-threatening injuries and is in hospital in a critical condition. The driver of the Peugeot, a 50-year-old woman from Barnsley, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Travelling in the Mondeo, the driver, a 45-year-old woman from Hoylandswaine, and a passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Penistone, were both taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police are asking anyone who saw the collision, or the manner in which any of the cars were being driver prior to the collision, to contact 101 quoting incident number 795 of Monday 4 January.
