Two Men Charged With Murder In Leeds

Two men have been charged with murder and robbery following the death of a man in Leeds.

Steven Varley of Coldcotes Crescent, Gipton and Michael Gath of Barton Terrace, Beeston, appeared before Leeds Magistrates on Saturday February 14 charged with the murder and robbery of 48 year old Andrew Gordon.

They were arrested after Mr Gordon's body was found in his flat on Briarsdale Heights at about 11am on February 11 by paramedics.

Initial indications where he had suffered trauma injuries and a post mortem subsequently confirmed his death had not been by natural causes.

Following their court appearance Steven Varley and Michael Gath have now been remanded in custody to appear before Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday February 17.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Elizabeth Belton, said:
"We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to this offence and I would ask anyone who has information to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
