Unemployment Up By 8,000 In Yorkshire

The number of people out of work in Yorkshire's gone up by 8,000 in the three months between October and December.

There were 165,000 people here without a job - up by 1,000 on this time last year.

More men than women were out of work in Yorkshire - with 100,000 men looking for work, and 66,000 women.

Nationally, unemployment's fallen by 60,000, to reach 1.69 million.

Average earnings increased by 1.9% over the last year.

It comes as a report claims a third of jobs currently being advertised in the UK could be replaced by robots by the year 2035.

It's predicted manual jobs like machine operators and tree trimmers are among those most likely to go.
