Wednesday 2nd August – ¡VAMOS!
One of the UK’s biggest and longest running community arts festivals covering Latino/Hispanic/Lusophone (Portuguese) culture returns to Leeds for a free family-friendly event in the heart of the city. ¡VAMOS! will feature an eclectic mix of music, dance, art and cuisine from Latin and Lusophone influences.
Thursday 3rd August – Jazz Leeds Festival
What better way to spend a summer afternoon than relaxing in Millennium Square, listening to jazz music and eating delicious street food? The Inaugural Festival Day of Jazz, organised by Jazz Leeds, brings that experience to the heart of Leeds. There’ll be free jazz music throughout the afternoon with The Big Easy and Hyde Park Brass playing on Millennium Square from 12noon–2pm. Plus, bring the kids along for a special beginners guide to playing jazz over in the Carriageworks theatre.
Back on Millennium Square Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra, Open Letter to Mingus and Slade Area will be taking over the stage from 5pm to 8.30pm. Finally, don’t miss the chance to see Leeds legend Snake Davis headline the evening at the Carriageworks theatre!
