Heart and Pontefract Racecourse have teamed up to give you a whole summer of fun!  Setting up your sunny schedule right here with a host of entertainment across the coming months.

We'll be starting at least one brand new competition every month to grab yourself tickets to one of the many events hitting the racecourse - from the hottest retro 80s Night, to the Beer Festival, to the famous Fly Fillies - we've got you covered.

A Day at the Races can be a great day or night out with colleagues from work, an amazing way to catch up with friends, a fantastic way to make friends or a fabulous way to spend time with the family!

SUNDAY 17TH AUGUST - FLYING FILLIES' FAMILY DAY

1st race 2.15pm, gates open 11.30am

It's their final Family Day of the Pontefract Races 2014 season.

The highlight on the track is The Highfield Farm Flying Fillies' Stakes, won in the past by some very speedy fillies.  To celebrate, they’ll be recognising a few more Flying Fillies too.

So, ladies of all ages, don't forget to bring your running shoes as you'll be able to step forward to be crowned your very own Flying Filly! There'll even be a very prestigious award for you to take home to put in the trophy cabinet.

Pontefract will also be commemorating successful and speedy women in sport so keep an eye out for posters on the day which will celebrate those brilliant ladies (both equine and human) who stand out from the crowd.

To top it all off, not only do they have the usual marching band, face painting, free ice creams and kids rides - but there's kids racecards and activity packs, trips to the start and Pony Rides in the Picnic Enclosure!

If you've been racing at Ponte before, you'll also know how much they love to see those horses who have treated us to some fantastic racing in Yorkshire over the years. On this day they'll have some ex-racers including the marvellous Mr Wolf parading before racing.
