Foul play in North Devon

Torridge District Council is urging residents to stop their dogs fouling our streets and instead use the dog bins provided after being alerted to a major dog fouling incident in Holsworthy.

75 bags of dog mess has been collected from a 50 yard stretch of the path and the grass verge alongside, in spite of the council providing a highly visible and hygienic dog bin in the same place.

Torridge District Council will be stepping up its dog patrols in the area over the next few weeks. People who do not clean up after their dog can be given a £50 on-the-spot fine. If they refuse to pay the fine, they can be prosecuted and may face a court appearance with a maximum penalty of £1,000.

If anyone has any information on dog fouling please call Torridge District Council’s Environmental Protection team on 01237 428810.
