Locals To 'Reclaim Bideford'

Hundreds of people are expected to attend a march through Bideford on Saturday 20th, to protest against violence.

The idea for the march came after an attack on Steven Cloak, a Bideford man who was left seriously injured after an attack in the town.

The walkers meet at Victoria Park in Bideford at midday and will all be wearing blue to show their solidarity.

Sally Knowles, one of the organisers, said: "It's all about the community coming together to show that we all care about what happens to everybody.  It might have been a one-off unlucky accident, but that's one too many, that's one life ruined...  It's not acceptable here in Bideford, we don't want violence of any sort here at all."

A Facebook group called 'Reclaim Bideford for Steven Cloak Midday March' has nearly 2,000 members.

Local police are supporting the march, and say they will be making changes to the way the town is policed.

Police say the investigation into the attack is still ongoing, and would like to hear from anyone who has any information.
