Three fire crews and a local digger driver have rescued a horse stuck in a ditch in Northam.

The 19 year old, grey mare had tired herself out trying to escape at Northam Burrows.

The crews used a digger from the nearby golf course plus cow nets and straps to pull her free.

After waiting for her to recover, she was returned to her young foal.

Jess said:"Well done to those who rescued her! I can imagine how she would tire herself out by trying to get out of the ditch. Thank goodness people helped her, otherwise she may not have been saved." (27/07/2010)
