Rubbish being collected

Our district councils are almost back to normal with our waste and recycling collections.

Christmas and New Year bank holidays combined with the recent bad road conditions meant in some places, there were no collections for 3 weeks.

Torridge District and North Devon Councils have been trying to catch up with collections as roads have cleared, and now only a few rural areas are still unreachable.

Leader of Torridge District Council, James Morrish said: "Where it's been brought to our attention, we've done everything we can possible to get it.  Even one or two members have actually been out and picked up the rubbish, and brought it in with their 4 wheel drives."

It hoped all collections will be up to date by tomorrow, and collections will be back to normal by next week.
