Walk For Life

It costs £3.5 million to run the North Devon Hospice every year. And it's been a tough last year for fundraising generally because of the recession.

So organisers of the annual Walk For Life later this month are hoping for a big turnout for the event.

Fundraiser Gerard Fawcitt told Heart: "It'll take place on Sunday March the 28th.  There are eight coastal walks people can chose from, all starting at 10am.

It's been a long old winter so what better than to have a good walk now that Spring is here.  The shortest is Bideford to Instow, that's 2.7 miles.  For the more energetic there's Clovelly to Hartland Quay which is 10 miles.  And there are six other routes in between.

A good one for families is the Westward Ho! circular walk.  And dogs are allowed on six of the walks.

The entry donation is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.  People can enter anytime in the next few weeks by getting a registration form from the North Devon Hospice or by calling Barnstaple 347224."
