Police are looking witnesses to a man who has twice approached a woman in the Goldington area of Bedford while she was on her way to work.
The man first spoke to her at about 7-7.30am on Friday 5th July, when the woman was waiting to be picked up by a work colleague. She had walked along The Spinney to Elliot Crescent, passing by Samra Supermarket, when she was approached by the man who was driving a silver Vauxhall Corsa. He offered her a lift to work and said he had seen her around and knew where she lived.
He was persistent, but drove off when the woman pointed out her colleague was waiting for her.
The following Thursday 11th July, she was walking to her left on the same route, when she felt someone grab hold of her arm. She turned round and saw the man from the previous week standing behind her. Gripping her wrist he said: “I’m going to take you, I’m going to take you in my car”.
She screamed loudly, attracting the attention of another woman passer-by. The man released his grip and walked away.
The offender is described as white, 5ft 11ins tall, aged 30-40 years, with short brown hair. On the first occasion he was wearing a white shirt with a distinctive black epaulette on his left shoulder and black trousers. On the second occasion he was wearing a blue shirt and black trousers.
If anyone has been similarly approached, or saw any part of these incidents, or has any other information that could help identify the man, PC Darren Bambury would like to hear from you.
