Detectives are seeking witnesses to a fight in Commercial Road, Bedford, on Wednesday afternoon (May 25) during which a man was stabbed.

The incident happened at about 3.30pm, when an argument broke out between three men. One man sustained a stabbing injury to his leg which resulted in major blood loss. He needed urgent hospital treatment but is now making a good recovery.

Witnesses described the offenders as being two white men, one aged about 30 wearing a white shirt or T-shirt with blue jeans and trainers; with the other aged about 25 wearing a grey hoodie and tracksuit bottoms, riding a mountain bike.

Det Con Darren Armitage, based at Greyfriars police station in Bedford, said: “It’s a very busy area of town so there would have been lots of people around who saw some or all of what happened. We have arrested two men in connection with the offence – but we do urgently need as many independent witnesses as possible to help us with information about what happened.”
