Police have fired at a 16 year old in Bedford because of fears he was carrying a gun.

Officers fired a plastic baton round - something which shouldn't kill you but just incapacitate you - in Bedford's Ampthill Road just after 2am on Wednesday 8 August 2012.

The 16 year old was wanted for breaching the conditions of his licence, having been released early from a sentence for causing grievous bodily harm.

Armed and unarmed police went to Ampthill Road at about 2am where the youth confronted officers with a firearm.

A baton round was fired at him and a police dog was sent to stop him.

The youth was checked over at Bedford Hospital. He suffered bruising and was taken into police custody.
