Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 14-year-old girl was grabbed by a man on Sunday June 17 in Bedford.

The victim was walking towards Aspects Leisure Park on the footpath beside the River Ouse at approximately 9.45pm when a man approached her.

He began to make conversation and, as he walked with her, the man touched her inappropriately. The man then walked towards the Town Centre and the victim made her way home and reported the incident to the police.

The man is described as white, with short scruffy grey hair and approximately 50 years of age.

Detective Constable Ian Johnson, investigating, said the victim contacted the police the same day to report this incident and has been left very shaken by what happened to her.

He said, "I am keen to talk with any members of the public who were in the area and may have seen the victim or the offender walking on the embankment near to the Suspension Bridge. I would ask them to contact the police, in complete confidence."

If you have information relating to this incident, contact DC Ian Johnson, in confidence, on 01234 275113, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
