Woman Punches Would Be Robber

27 June 2012, 16:30

A woman has managed to escape a man trying to rob her by punching him in the face.

The 36 year old had been walking along North Drive in Shortstown on Friday (June 22), at about 11.50pm, when she was approached from behind.

The man grabbed her around the neck and tried to push her into bushes.

He then demanded money and tried to remove jewellery from her fingers and neck.

The woman managed to punch him in the face, which caused him to loosen his grip - giving the woman the chance to get away and run home.

She was left with a four inch cut to her face.

The attacker is described as a white man, aged about 30, of a big, stocky build and about 5ft 10ins tall with short cut spiky hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call Greyfrairs CID on 1234 275357 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
