Thames Valley Police have arrested a 24 year-old woman on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, in connection with a collision in Calcot on Tuesday (November 2nd).

At around 7.45 am on Tuesday - traffic on the A4 was brought to a standstill - after a blue Renault Clio and a red and black Yamaha TRX motorcycle collided on the Bath Road west of Reading in Calcot.  It happened just East of the Langley Hill junction.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 37 year-old man from Theale, was pronounced dead at the scene - and the road was closed for around 4 hours. The closure caused major delays as many drivers were using it as a detour from the closure of the eastbound M4 at Slough, following another fatal accident.

Thames Valley Police say the driver of the Clio, was arrested shortly after the crash and has been released on police bail until 15 December.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to it, should contact the Investigating Officer PC Samantha Allen, of the Road Death Investigation Unit, via 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
