Concorde funding boost

Airbus has pledged £840,000 towards a new museum to keep the last concorde aircraft right here in the West.

The plan is to build a 9 million pound centre next to Cibbs Causeway, right next to the Filton airfield where it is currently being restored to it's former glory.

The funding comes as we wait to hear if the project will also get £2.9 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, who meet on Tuesday to make their decision.

The Concorde 216 aircraft was removed from display last year and campaigners had feared it would never be open to the public again, but the funding boost moves the project a little nearer.

It is hoped the new museum will be up and running by Autumn 2014.
