Hydrogen Powered Ferry for Bristol?
Bristol City Council want to get a Hydrogen powered ferry onto the harbour.
At the moment Hamburg in Germany has the only fully operating Hydrogen ferry in Europe.
The technology is said to be greener than petrol and diesel engines because it doesn't produce fumes and the only waste product is water.
Neil Harrison is in charge of Sustainability at the city council, he told Heart,
'It's a new way of moving things around, replacing diesel and petrol engines. Its fantastic technology with no fumes, no smoke, the only waste product is water. Now what we need is a ferry company, a fuel cell supplier and a hydrogen supplier to come together to give us a viable plan. So by the summer we should be in a position to move forwards and we should see something in the harbour by the back end of this year.'
