Avon & Somerset Police say a woman is in hospital with life threatening injures after a crash with a tractor.

They were called to the collision at 3.15pm today on the A403 Severn Road between Pulning and Northwick, after a car initially collided with a white lorry tractor unit before other vehicles became involved.

A woman in her 40's was taken to Frenchay Hospital.

Police closed the road to enable a detailed examination of the scene by the Road Policing Unit's Collision Investigation Unit.

The Collision Investigation Unit would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and may have information to help the police.

In particular, they are keen to trace the driver of the white Tractor Unit which was initially struck by the car, who had left the scene before the arrival of the Police.

Anyone able to help is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on the force's non emergency number 101.

Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org. They never ask for a name and never trace the call.
