Illusions Birthday Party

Since opening it's doors in 2007, Illusions Magic Bar in Clifton, Bristol, has seen many top-named magicians perform there.

On Thursday, September 8th, it celebrated it's 4th Birthday with a party; Including performances from some special guests.

Being a big fan of magic and a dabbler myself, I try and get to Illusions as much as I can. It's open Tuesday to Sunday and every night they have an in-house magician performing close-up at the magic bar. Now, if magic's NOT your thing, they also have live music, karaoke and are the only bar to have a "Magic Wand" cocktail available.

For the Birthday celebrations, Illusions didn't disappoint. Not only did they have all of the mentioned above, but they also brought in some special guests. Keiron Johnson, regular performer at the bar, entertained the crowd with his balloon-swallowing act and his "Bag of Death" routine. Next up were The Wizards of Odd, aka Aaron and Jonti, whose comedy magic was brilliantly timed and clever. I particularly enjoyed their signature "Box Trick".

Finally, it was the star guest! If you've been watching "Penn & Teller Fool Us" then you may remember a magic dragon by the name of Piff. If you can't, you may remember his dragon-dog Mr. Piffles? Piff the Magic Dragon (along with Mr. Piffles) is a must-see act. Very funny, yet skilled at his craft, Piff is the creation of magician Jon van der Put. However, the two differ in character.

If you're ever in the city and fancy a good night out, I always recommend Illusions. I've taken many of my friends there and they always have a good time.

Happy 4th Birthday to Mark and Sylvia and the rest of the team at Illusions Magic Bar - Here's to next year!
