A memorial service is being held to remember an American serviceman who was based at RAF Lakenheath.

Captain Samuel Robertson, who was a 26 year old fighter pilot, collapsed and died during a bible service at the base last Wednesday.

He was rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, but doctors weren't able to save him.

Major Tom Hunt, who served alongside Captain Robertson, said: "He absolutely loved what he did and he had a passion for it, and that bled over into everything he did.

Even if it was a simpler, more mundane task, he was excited to do it because he was excited to be a part of the squadron and a part of the community."

Captain Robertson was a member of the 493rd Fighter Squadron, and he leaves behind a wife.

The cause of his death is under review.

A private memorial service is being held at RAF Lakenheath this afternoon.
