UK Power Networks have confirmed, as of 9:30 last night, all properties in Cambridgeshire had their power restored.

UK Power Networks, who were working to get the power back on, say they were doing so as quickly as they could.

As of yesterday lunchtime, in total across the East there were 48,000 premises without electricity.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Engineers have restored power to the majority of customers who were affected when high winds caused extensive damage to power lines.

The storm affected nearly 600,000 customers. Engineers have worked hard in difficult conditions to restore supplies.

UK Power Networks has five times the normal number of engineers on duty (750 compared to 150 on a usual day) and many extra call advisors answering the phones."

UK Power Networks had told Heart yesterday that all power lines had been restored across the county, but later said, because figures are constantly changing, they had been mistaken.

Now, they've told Heart again that all the power supplies across the county have been restored.
