Chittering: Death Investigation Continues Underwater
26 September 2012, 06:00
Police divers have begun an operation to search the River Cam, in connection with the investigation into the death of Chittering man, Llwelwyn Thomas.
Mr Thomas's body was found at his home in Chittering on the 18th of December last year; a post-mortem revealed the 76 year-old died from head injuries.
Mr Thomas was found in his Ely Road home - it's thought he was killed during a burglary that went wrong the night before, when his car was also stolen.
Cambridgeshire Police say the specialist divers arrived from the north west of England and started searching a stretch of water near Fen Ditton, yesterday morning (Tuesday 25th September).
We're told the divers will remain on scene through today.
Four men arrested in connection with the murder remain on bail.
Meanwhile, detectives are still looking for items thought to have been taken during the incident, including watches, a wallet and a number of coins from a collection.
A large award has been offered for information leading to the conviction of those responsible.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Cambridgeshire Police Major Investigations Team on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
