An investigation is underway following a big fire at a garage in Graveley near St Neots.

Firefighters were called to the Milestone Motor Company in Manor Farm, Papworth Road, at about 3.30am this morning (Wednesday 10th October).

They arrived to find a fire at a garage used as a car maintainance workshop, measuring about 20x30 metres. There were around 15 cars and several oxy acetylene cylinders inside.

Due to the cylinders involved, the fire service put a 200 metre corden in place and police alerted residents within the corden, some of which were evacuated.

Gary Mitchley, Incident Commander said: "Crews did a fantastic job in keeping the cylinders cool and extinguishing the fire."

"The cylinders have been cooled and lifted to safety and the 200m corden has also been lifted as there is no risk remaining."

"The efforts of the fire service will now shift onto the fire investigation to determine the cause of the fire. The police will be aiding in this."

No one was injured.
