Man hit by train

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances after a man was hit by a train and killed in Cambridge.

British Transport Police have confirmed the crash happened at around 5:20am near a bridge over Long Road in Cambridge, and involved the 5:17am service from Cambridge to Stansted Airport.

The driver of the train saw a man on the track but couldn't stop in time.

The body has not yet been identified, and has been taken to Addenbrookes Hospital for further tests.

Rush hour First Capital Connect and National Express East Anglia services between Cambridge and London were disrupted as a result of the crash.

Cross Country services to Stansted Airport were also affected.

Part of Long Road was also closed for a time as police investigated the incident.
