Royston: Plane Crash, Man Critical

A man has been airlifted to hospital after his light aircraft crashed into a field near Royston.

The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) were called to reports of a light aircraft crashing in to a field in Newnham Way at 6.23pm last night (Friday 18th May). Two ambulance crews from Letchworth and the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) attended the scene.

Trust spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "A man received life threatening injuries and following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge for further care."

The man is believed to be in a critical condition.
