Cambourne: Man Arrested Over Attempted Murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was attacked in Cambourne.

Police attended Sackville Way, outside Cambourne Police Station, at around 9.20pm yesterday after hearing screams in the street.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries after being attacked and was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

The offender ran off and was chased by officers. Three of them were assaulted during the chase, with one needing hospital treatment for minor injuries.

A 36-year-old man from Bedford was arrested near to the Caxton services on suspicion of attempted murder, however he was taken ill at the scene and transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital for treatment.

He has since been taken to Parkside Police Station in Cambridge where he remains.
