Cambridgeshire: New Deputy Chief Constable

A new Deputy Chief Constable's been appointed to Cambridgeshire Police.

Alec Wood, who is currently working with Lincolnshire Police, takes over the role from John Feavyour, who retires in August after 30 years police service.

Chief Constable Simon Parr said: "Alec is the right person for Cambridgeshire and he was chosen after a rigorous process. I very much look forward to working with him and taking on the many challenges that face policing in coming years in partnership with him."

Mr Wood said: "I am delighted to have been chosen to serve as Deputy Chief Constable in Cambridgeshire, a county with which I have had connections for many years. I am very much looking forward to my new role."

Alec joined Lincolnshire Police in 1986, serving in both uniform and CID roles. He was a senior investigating officer for a number of years and also the Head of Crime, during which time he oversaw a number of complex murder and serious crime investigations.

As a Chief Superintendent Alec was Divisional Commander at both the East (Skegness) and West (Lincoln) Divisions. He was appointed as Temporary Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) responsible for Protective Services in 2009.

Alec is the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) lead for Behavioural Science and for Partnership Working. He has an MA in Criminology.

He will join the force later this year.
