Fireworks Explosion In Peterborough

One man's suffered severe burns after a small explosion at a fireworks factory in Peterborough.

Emergency services were called at 1037am to Le Maitre Fireworks on Fourth Drove in Fengate, Peterborough.

Police, paramedics, MAGPAS Air Ambulance paramedics, the Hazardous Area Response Team and firecrews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground found a fire in an industrial unit - with smoke coming from the roof.

The building was evacuated when crews arrived at the scene.

Two casualties required treatment at the scene for burns and were left in the care of ambulance crews, one was airlifted to hospital.

A multi-agency investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire.
