Man Charged After Woman Seriously Attacked In Cambourne

A man has been charged after a woman was attacked and suffered serious injuries in Cambourne.

Police were called to Sackville Way at around 9.20pm on Tuesday (22nd March) after reports of screams heard in the street. 

36 year old Matthew Chand, from Wootton in Bedford, was arrested that night on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, causing actual bodily harm (ABH) and two counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty.

He has been remanded in police custody to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court this morning (Thursday, March 24).

The woman, in her 40s, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries and was flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
