Man Questioned In Peterborough Under Op Yewtree

A 71 year-old man is in a Peterborough police station - after being arrested in connection with allegations of sexual offences.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said the man was arrested "under the strand of the investigation we have termed 'Others'.''

The pensioner has been interviewed at a police station in Peterborough and inquiries continue.

Operation Yewtree is the Metropolitan Police investigation into sexual abuse claims launched in October 2012 in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Scotland Yard said it has spoken to 17 people as part of the Yewtree investigation.

He said: "This is not a new individual to Operation Yewtree. This is not an 18th individual."
