The memorial service for former Peterborough United player, manager and owner Chris Turner takes place at the city's Cathedral today.

Family, friends, club staff and supporters are invited to Peterborough Cathedral on Friday to celebrate the life of Chris Turner.

The memorial service at the Cathedral begins at 11am. Turner sadly passed away on 27th April 2015 aged 64 after a long battle with illness.

Bob Symns, the Chief Executive at Peterborough United says "I'll remember him as a charming yet strong leader both on and off the field. He was a giant of a man in his personality, and his ways, and his cheekiness, and he liked a giggle as well.

"He certainly worker hard and played hard.

"It's obviously been a very long illness with an almost inevitable outcome, and it's been very sad for Chris's family and friends.

"This is an opportunity for everyone to remember him and thank him for what he did at Peterborough United over the years. Proper legend."

The football club will be closed all day on Friday.
