Work is getting underway in both Cambridge and Peterborough to increase support for homeless people in the two cities ahead of winter.

In Peterborough, there's a new campaign called Safer Off the Streets Peterborough, which brings together 17 organisations from voluntary, faith, community and public service agencies who will work together to aid those who are sleeping rough on our streets.
The partnership’s campaign includes a new contactless card donation card window outside The Argo Lounge in St Peter’s Arcade which funds will directly help the street homeless; new outreach and rehabilitation programmes across the next 12 months and beyond; and a dedicated website - - bringing vital services and information together all in one place.
In Cambridge, Wintecomfort has launched a brand new "Cup for Change" campaign.

The concept is simple get together with friends, family and colleagues and have coffee together and ask people to donate to Wintercomfort.

The money raised will support Wintercomfort's work to support homeless individuals to move on from homelessness. In the last year the charity have support 52 individuals back into employment and 36 other individuals have taken part in their social enterprise training programme.

Simon Pickering, Fundraiser at Wintercomfort says:

"This is a new campaign for us raising both awareness and funds to support our vitally important work enabling our service users to move on from homelessness. We have been amazed so far by the number of people and local companies hosting events, but there is always room for more people to get behind the campaign"

Wintercomfort have been working in the city of Cambridge since 1991, their day centre near Jesus Green is open seven days a weeks and supports on average 53 individuals per day.  Wintercomfort works with men and women who are homeless or vulnerably housed by offering them vital welfare and opportunities for learning and development
