Police in Peterborough are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in the early hours of Monday morning (March 9) between 2am and 4am.

The victim, a woman in her late 30s, was walking alone in Lincoln Road when she walked by a parked car. The occupants of the car, two men and a woman, offered her a lift home and she accepted.

The victim was driven to a car park off Lincoln Road, near to the junction of Dogsthorpe Road, and sexually assaulted by one of the men while the others stood outside.

The suspect is described as white, average build with short light brown hair.

Detective Inspector Sarah Smith said: "We believe this is an isolated incident however I would urge members of the public not to accept lifts from people they do not know.

I am particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have seen a grey car, possibly a Volkswagen Passat, in the area around the time of the incident."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting CF0095300315, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
