The Sainsbury's Christmas advert is here but what is that song? And who is the little star that is Tia? Details revealed.

Sainsbury's has finally dropped their new Christmas 2018 advert, called The Big Night, and it's set to rival John Lewis' advert.

The heartwarming advert premiered during Sunday night's X Factor ad break, and is set to the soundtrack of the New Radicals’ beloved hit song, “You Get What You Give”.

Viewers are introduced to young star Tia Issac, who is gearing up for a her starring solo performance in the school nativity play when she is plagued with stage fright.

Dressed as the star, the young singer is apprehensive about singing but she takes a look at her mother in the audience and is immediate filled with confidence to sing her solo.

The adverts sees 60 children from across the country dressed up in weird and wonderful outfits, with one even starring as a plug and Christmas lights while the other stars as a festive turkey on the drums.

Laura Boothby, head of broadcast marketing at Sainsbury’s, explains how the nativity idea was fundamental in making the audience have an emotional connection to the advert. She explained: "The school show is a flagship Christmas moment for many: the evenings spent frantically learning lines, the inventive costumes – the whole family truly plays a part."

The adorable children in the advert pull on everybody's heartstrings with their rendition of the New Radicals’ beloved hit, “You Get What You Give”.

Who directed the Sainsbury's Christmas advert 2018

Directed by the acclaimed director of The Greatest Showman, Michael Gracey, the advert captures the spirit of the holiday season with the tagline, “we give all we’ve got for the ones we love”.

“We set out to craft an ad that embodies the joy and imagination of the festive season,” says Gracey.

“We hope it’s a message that resonates with people from all walks of life this Christmas.”

The advert was made by famed advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy.

What was the 2017 Sainsbury’s Christmas Advert?

Last year’s advert was titled “Every Bit of Christmas”. It featured both festive Brits and Sainsbury’s staff singing along to a song especially written for the clip.
