An online campaign to buy a homeless man a caravan has been set up

An online campaign is trying to raise money to save the life of a homeless man living on the streets in Newquay.

The GoFundMe campaign was set up by a local woman who met Clive whilst she was volunteering in a soup kitchen.

Devika Devereux says she was inspired to help him when they struck up a friendship, and he told her his story. He's been sleeping rough in Newquay for the past 5 years.

Now she's hoping the kindness of strangers will help get Clive off the streets.

The campaign has raised more than £900 so far, and Devika is hoping to raise £3,000 to buy a caravan for Clive to live in. They'll also need a plot of land near Newquay to put the caravan on.

She says "Everyone speaks to him, everyone knows him, he's a much loved part of the community".

Clive says he's been overwhelmed at all the support he's received since the campaign was set up, and says people have been asking about it every day.

But he fears if he's left out on the streets for much longer, he wont get through another winter.

He says " I've come to the realisation that I do need a place that's safe, warm and dry or someone will find me slumped one morning, it's been hard in the winter time but I've managed to scrape through, just about".
