21 Year Old Girl Scares Off Attacker

A 21 year old woman has been sexually assaulted in Bournemouth's Redhill Park.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

The incident, in which a man approached a woman from behind and inappropriately touched her, happened at Redhill Park – between Redhill Drive and Redhill Avenue – between 6.30pm and 6.45pm on Friday, 5 August 2011.

The 21-year-old victim, from Bournemouth, was shocked, but uninjured

Sergeant Stuart Pitman, of North Bournemouth police, said:

 "The victim was walking through the park at the time of this highly distressing attack.

"She tried to hit the offender – at which point he made off on foot."

The attacker is white, aged around 40, five feet eleven inches tall and clean shaven. He was wearing blue jeans, a light green T-shirt and a baseball cap at the time of the incident.

Sergeant Pitman continued:

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, and anyone who has any information about the man responsible, to contact me urgently.

"I understand that the park was busy at this time of day and it may be that someone, perhaps several people, can help me with my investigation."
