At approximately 11.45am on January 28th 2011, Dorset firecrews were called to a fire in a thatched cottage in Sutton Waldron near Blandford.
The first six crews to attend the scene requested support and at the height of the fire there were 12 fire crews on the scene (approx 75 firefighters). Crews from Hampshire and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Services were also called in to help.
Crews used ladders, hose reel jets, main lines and compressed air foam to extinguish this fire which affected four properties - all of their roofs were severely damaged.
The A350's was also closed as a precaution.
Six fire engines stayed on to continue dampening down. A fire investigation officer's looking into how the fire started.
