App Launched To Showcase Dorset Produce

A new iPhone application championing Dorset’s local food and drink producers has been launched.

‘Foodfinder SW’ is thought to be one of the first applications of its kind in the UK.

By teaming up together, the legal firm 'Stephens Scown' and food and drink trade organisation 'Taste of the West', want to showcase the South West’s produce on a national platform and the App is aimed at people either living or visiting the region.

The free App lets users find local food and drink producers in their current location and what’s on offer. They can also
search for specific suppliers; identify their exact location and how to get to them.

Customers can search by category for a specific product to see where it’s stocked; share their experiences by rating and
reviews and get the latest news, food festivals and events and find out what’s coming up in their area.

Members of Taste of the West will receive their own profile on the App – they will be able to keep their profile updated including specific information about the service or product, special offers, images and where the produce is stocked.

Applications, commonly known as Apps, are programmes downloaded onto mobile phones with entertainment or practical functions, such as games, fitness, business, news and travel.
