Blade Attack In Boscombe

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a serious assault in Boscombe.

The incident, in which a man was left with serious wounds following an unprovoked attack, happened at the junction of Cecil Road and Sea Road, at around 10.20pm Saturday, 4 June 2011.

The victim, a 28-year-old Bournemouth man, was treated at Royal Bournemouth Hospital for cuts to his face, neck and stomach. His injuries are not life threatening.

Detective Inspector Becky Riggs, of Bournemouth CID, said: "The victim was walking along Cecil Road when a man suddenly approached him and attacked him with a sharp instrument, possibly a razor.

"Clearly this was a terrifying experience and it is fortunate that the outcome was not far worse."

The offender is white, aged around 30, with a shaved head. He was wearing grey shorts at the time of the assault.

DI Riggs continued: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this assault, and indeed anyone who saw any unusual or suspicious activity in the Cecil Road area last night, to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant you may consider it to be, may help me to trace the man responsible for this despicable incident."
