Cyclist Found Seriously Injured

Police are trying to find out how a cyclist suffered serious injuries near Bournemouth University’s main campus.

Just after 7am on Monday, 8 August 2011, officers received a report that a 65-year-old Bournemouth man had been found unconscious along Talbot Hill Road – the man was taken to Poole Hospital with serious head injuries.

Police Constable Sarah Jones, of Dorset Police’s traffic unit, said: “I understand that the injured man cycled along Wallisdown Road from the Mountbatten Arms end before being found along Talbot Hill Road, near Talbot Avenue.

“He was riding a red and white mountain bike and was wearing a blue sweat top.

“At this stage, it is not clear whether any other vehicles were involved in this incident.

“I am appealing for anyone with any information as to how this man sustained his injuries, and anyone who saw a man of this description cycle along Wallisdown Road between 6.30am and 7am this morning, to contact me urgently.

“This man has sustained life threatening injuries and it is essential that we speak with anyone who can help us to find out exactly what happened.”
