Dog Rescued From Disused Well

Firecrews have rescued a dog which got trapped 60 feet down a disused well in Dorset.

Dorset firecrews were called to Orchard Street in Blandford at around 10.15am on Saturday March the 12th.

Station Manager Mike Cox, who attended this incident said:

"Crews from Blandford and our technical rescue team from Poole carried out a particularly difficult animal rescue from a disused, chalk lined well which was approximately 60 feet in depth.

"Jake, a 14 year old Labrador collie cross had fallen to the bottom of the well.

"The technical rescue team utilised specialist line rescue equipment to recover the dog, which had suffered only minor injuries."

A firefighter from the animal rescue team was also lowered into the well to help.
