Dorset Man Charged With Dad's Murder
The son of a man understood to be a former BBC radio presenter will appear in court today charged with his murder.
Joseph Cooper, 23, was held after police discovered a body at an address in Dorset, police sources said.
The man, in his 60s, has not been formally identified but is believed to be former BBC Radio Sheffield reporter Howard Winton Cooper.
Police were called to a property in Ham Meadow, Marnhull, near Sturminster Newton, by a member of the public on Friday.
Cooper was arrested later that evening following searches involving armed officers, dogs and the force helicopter.
Mr Cooper left BBC Radio Sheffield 15 years ago, the broadcaster said.
The presenter, who covered the Hillsborough disaster while employed by the corporation, was once described by his colleague Peter Crabtree as one of the "most memorable" people he had worked with.
