Fatal New Forest Crash: Driver Named

Police in the New Forest are now in a position to identify the driver who died following a collision on the A35 at Holmesley.

Joyce Frigot, 61, from Christchurch, Dorset was pronounced dead at the scene of the head-on crash on Sunday 17th June. Her front seat passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Lee on Solent, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

It involved her red Vauxhall Astra and a silver Vauxhall Insignia driven by a 52-year-old man from Southampton.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the collision, in particular the driver of a mid-to-light blue Volvo estate which was travelling along the A35 at Holmesley when the crash happened shortly before 10am.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sergeant Andy Lynch at Hampshire Constabulary's Road Death Investigation Team on 101, quoting Operation Armel.

A 52-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has now been bailed until August 30 pending further enquiries.
