Fined £3000 For Felling Protected Trees

Borough of Poole have gained an eleventh successful conviction for illegally felling protected trees in the last four years.

On 12 August 2011 at Bournemouth Magistrates Court,a company known as Hunter Tree Care Ltd was found guilty of unlawfully felling two protected trees at 23 Ravine Road, Canford Cliffs, Poole.

Hunter Tree Care Ltd was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay the council's costs of £3000.

Russ Fisher, Senior Arboricultural Officer, Borough of Poole, said:

"We are delighted with the result. We hope this sends a clear message that procedures exist for working on protected trees that should be adhered to."
